1948 CHRYSLER WINDSOR- placed for saleNov.
1, 2022 (purchased by present owner - April 2020) This car was originally purchased new in a small Nebraska town in 1949.
It is a true survivor which obviously had excellent care through the years.
It was equipped, when new, with custom Chrysler optional seat covers which were removed only about two years ago.
The entire car upholstery is in superior original condition.
No tears or spotting, Only the front carpeting has been replaced with new.
Dashboard, controls, gauges and radio have excellent appearance and all operate perfectly.
WITHIN THE LAST TWO YEARS - All stainless steel and chrome trim was removed from the car, and bumpers and bumper guards removed and re-chromed.
Then the exterior of the car was entirely stripped of all paint down to bare metal finding NO BONDO OR RUST.
Body was primed and painted the original color, Regal Maroon, to match the original color of the firewall.
All trim and bumpers re-installed.
The chassis was detailed, all lubrication nipples greased, steering components checked (all in excellent condition), 4 wheel alignment to factory specifications performed, 4 new original equipment type Monroe shock absorbers installed.
Engine (6 cylinder L-head) transmission (4 speed semi-automatic hydraulic fluid drive).
Engine oil pan removed and interior of engine thoroughly cleaned, all engine gaskets removed and replaced with new gaskets including manifold intake and exhaust gaskets, new water pump and antifreeze installed, all engine exhaust and intake valve tappets adjusted to factory specs, new spark plugs and ignition wires installed, new ignition points, condenser and distributor cap installed, engine timing set, starter rebuilt, complete new exhaust system installed, all new engine motor mounts and transmission mounts installed.
New fog lights and new backup light installed.
New engine oil and filter and new transmission oil installed.
Brakes and Tires New linings, wheel cylinders and brake return springs installed on all 4 wheels, all 4 brake drums turned to factory specs'.
4 new Coker wide whitewall radial tires balanced and installed.
Although the actual odometer mileage on the car cannot be conclusively verified, about 65,000 miles seems to be a reasonable conclusion given the very few signs of wear or general deterioration on the car.
