BWXT is currently seeking a Materials Engineering Unit Manager for its Lynchburg, VA location!

The Materials Engineering Unit Manager will supervise an onsite staff of 8 9 engineers and is expected to supervise 2 offsite surveillance engineers in coordination with NOG-Barberton.

Job Description/Duties:

  • Leads and coordinates engineering work to ensure that quality material is delivered by the Suppliers for production use.
  • Addresses supplier manufacturing issues.
  • Reviews technical specifications, drawings, and submittals.
  • Ensures compliance to contracts.
  • Leads process improvement projects.
  • Works closely with counterparts in Supplier Quality, Procurement, Management, and the Customer to ensure the needs of all stakeholders are met.
  • Travels to Supplier sites when appropriate to support new orders, troubleshooting of issues, and/or surveillance activities.
  • Creates and maintains budgets, tracks utilization, develops task schedules and action plans, and develops employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required.
    Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Materials Science degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required.
  • Previous experience with suppliers in the nuclear industry and familiarity with manufacturing processes is desired.
  • A working knowledge of nuclear materials/components is desired.
  • Previous experience with military specifications (CMC-49, etc.
    ) for nuclear materials is desired.
  • Previous audit or surveillance experience (ISO-9001, NQA-1, Technical Requirements, etc.
    ) is desired.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively work with all levels of the organization internally as well as external suppliers.
  • Must be able to travel to supplier sites.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.
    S.
    Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
