BWXT is currently seeking a, multi-talented Engineering Data Scientist to serve as a researcher for nuclear product development for its location in Lynchburg, VA.

Job Description/Duties:

  • Combines nuclear or mechanical engineering experience with data science for nuclear product research & development.
  • Deploys a range of statistical techniques for causation analyses.
  • Machine and deep learning systems for predictive quality.
  • Visualization products including analytics, 3D simulation, and data models.
  • Develops sensor platforms and imagery processing on development or production processes.
  • Satisfies research and development objectives to warrant continued investment toward product realization.

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor s Degree in a technical or computational field of study (e.
    g.
    , nuclear or mechanical engineering preferred) is required.
  • Engineering Degree must be from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Masters or PhD preferred.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience is required, internships toward an advanced degree may substitute.
  • Expertise in nuclear or mechanical engineering, statistical analysis, multiphysics coding and/or computer vision strongly desired.
  • Must possess strong coding skills in C++, Python.
  • Experience in simulation or design tools a big plus (e.
    g.
    neutronics, thermal hydraulics or stress).
  • Travel (10-20%) domestic and international is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.
    S.
    Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
