BWXT's Advanced Technologies (AT) group researches, designs, and develops innovative new nuclear reactors, nuclear rocket propulsion systems, and radioisotope production systems for both internal and external customers.

The position will be located in the Lynchburg, VA, Advanced Technologies office.

Job Description / Duties:
Create design models and detailed drawings using CAD software and other design methods.
Provide engineering support involving assembly, testing and inspection of mechanical components and systems.
Assist in the development and qualification of advanced manufacturing technologies.
Assist in the development and qualification of new chemical processes.
Support assembling prototype and production equipment.
Write test reports and assisting with qualification reports.
Support engineering procurement efforts and control of tooling.
Support Operations (hand tools, power tools, machining equipment, automated equipment).
Inspect and characterize components.
Provide other engineering and manufacturing support tasks as required.
Job Qualifications / Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Design is preferred.
Must possess at least two (2) years of related experience.
Must have demonstrable knowledge in wiring equipment panels and basic mechanical skills.
Must have demonstrable knowledge of CAD systems and design engineering techniques relative to the development of complex electro/mechanical tools and systems.
Must be able to specify procurement requirements for mechanical components.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
Ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely written and verbal communication is required.
Ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers is required.
Knowledge of robotic manipulators, automated welding, and fiber optic audio/video systems is preferred.
Must be a U.
S.
citizen.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.
S.
Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
