Access Management Systems Support Technician I

The Access Control System Support Technician is responsible for providing excellent customer service as well as the proper processing of University-wide approved key requests and badge requests.
All the while, ensuring that only the approved individuals possess the valid credentials for access and that neither the key/core nor the card access systems integrity have been compromised in any manner whatsoever.
Maintaining both the key/core and card access systems integrity is absolutely vital and a major part of this position.
Working independently and able to exercise good judgment and discretion is essential to this job.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities1.
Directly supports the lead System Support Technician.
2.
Customer service:
Receive and process phone calls and emails.
Able to effectively communicate with walk-in customers.
3.
Contacts department requesting specific key access/ badge access and works through any/all details of submitted requests.
4.
Works closely with Liberty University Card Services Department, regarding badge requests in order to retrieve employee status and card information.
5.
Researches employee history/ current status regarding key request.
6.
Completes approved key requests per department process.
Cuts and processes key on employee's records.
7.
Works closely with Liberty University Card Services Department, regarding badge requests in order to retrieve employee status and card information.
8.
Submits Facilities Operations work orders on behalf of Access Control Technicians.
9.
Adequately communicates with field technicians from all departments regarding work orders and projects.
10.
Works closely with Access Control Locksmiths to ensure that all keys have been recorded correctly via the current keying system.
11.
Distribute keys and provide the proper documentation of key transactions.
12.
Order office supplies as needed.
13.
Provides much needed support in the reinforcement of division and department policies in order to sustain system integrity.
14.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the Access Control field.
15.
Possess strong knowledge of the Access Control System software.
16.
Relies on experience and judgement of the Lead System Support Technician regarding areas of uncertainty.
17.
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
18.
Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed- some nights and weekends.
19.
Reports to Supervisor.
20.
Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks.
21.
Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission.
22.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Credentials, and CompetenciesHigh school diploma or GED.
Minimum of 1
years of related experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior access control programming experience preferred but not required.
Certifications obtained while employed by Liberty University at the expense of the employer will be reimbursed back to the University upon voluntary termination (resignation) for the first 12 months after acquiring it.
Must be detailed oriented, possess strong organizational skills and well-developed communications skills.
Effective communication both verbally and in writing.
Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
Excellent computer and organizational skills.
Regularly lift 50
pounds.
Proof of a valid Virginia driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
