BWXT is currently seeking a Senior IT Project Manager for its Lynchburg, VA location!The Senior IT Project Manager, is a strategic, conceptual, innovative expert in the project/program management discipline, with a broad range of business experience, who manages the initiation, planning, execution, control, budget and closing of strategic, complex, high-risk, multi-million-dollar IT projects and programs, in the areas of Applications, ERP, Infrastructure, Cyber Security and Acquisitions.
Job Description/Duties:
Drive the successful execution of multi-million dollar critical, complex, high-risk projects / programs, manage the strategic direction and day-to-day tactical aspects of projects/programs, meet aggressive deadlines, may lead other Project Managers.
Develop the strategy for project/program execution, define project scope, general specifications, resource requirements, schedule, and cost estimate baselines.
Develop and manage project/program budgets, manage external vendors, lead vendor selection and contracts.
Work with business to develop return on investment (ROI) and obtain management approvals.
Work with resource managers to staff projects/programs, with impact consideration of other project/programs, and functional/operational objectives.
Develop and maintain project/program schedules and estimates in defined PM tool, maintain project/program team site and accurate project/program documentation.
Pro-actively manage project/program schedule, resources, budget, change control, issues and risks, escalating as necessary to ensure barriers are removed and projects meet their schedules.
Provide timely and accurate project/program status reporting and meetings, targeting different audiences including project team, PMO, Stakeholders and Executives.
Ensure project/program scope, schedule, budget, quality and associated metrics are available and accurate and meet PMO standards and guidelines.
Ensure project management approaches are consistent, measurable and aligned with PMO standards and best practices.
Ensure that the solution meets the needs of the enterprise and business unit representatives.
Oversee the quality aspects of the project and resulting solution.
Assist in the implementation of project management tools and methodologies.
Provide mentoring and support to other project managers.
Champion the promotion of integrity in all projects, ensuring the projects are run effectively and with proper governance.
Understand and anticipate internal and external business challenges, and make recommendations and decisions based on what's best for the organization, professionally challenge stakeholders on critical project success factors.
This position can be located at our facility in Lynchburg, VA, Barberton, OH, or remote.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree is required.
Computer science or IT related degree is preferred.
Must have a minimum of fifteen (15) years' project/program management experience.
Related project/program management experience managing concurrent multiple complex IT projects (Applications, ERP, Infrastructure, Acquisitions, Cyber Security) is preferred.
PMP Certification is preferred.
Proven ability to define solutions and solve problems through conceptual and innovative thought process is required.
Must be able to proactively anticipate and resolve challenges.
Must have expert understanding of automation tools and information technology.
Must have demonstrable proven success in the ability to define, organize, manage and deliver projects, meeting scope, quality, schedule and budget.
Proven success in proactive issues and risk management is required.
Must have experience and knowledge with the project management body of knowledge, Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Visio.
Must have excellent and effective inter-personal, leadership and communication skills.
Must be a U.
S.
citizen with no dual citizenship.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance is required.
