Full-time salaried position with Virginia Retirement System and valuable benefits packageThe Clinician LMHP (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) or Resident in Counseling LMHP-E will assess the needs of individuals referred to the Outpatient mental health and substance use therapy program for children, adolescents and adults in a clinical setting.
These services include developing individual treatment plans, conducting assessments, providing counseling services, and educating individuals on available community resources.

Required Education and Experience for Clinician - LMHP-E; Resident in Counseling Master's degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field and registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling for clinical supervision working toward licensure.
One year experience working with identified population served preferred.
Eligible to register as an LMHP-E with the VA Board of Counseling within three months of hire.
Required Education and Experience for Clinician - LMHP Master's degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field and licensure in the State of Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
One year of program specific work experience or relevant education, which indicates the individual possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Related Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to develop and maintain therapeutic relationships; Ability to promote positive, collaborative, and professional working relations among co-workers and representatives in the community; Ability to record data and complete documentation within established expectations and by communicated deadlines; Ability to respond effectively to changes in the work environment in a positive and professional manner; Knowledge of evidenced based practices to include but not limited to; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); emergency interventions; family, group, and individual therapies;, psychosocial education; risk assessments; sex offender treatment; substance abuse interventions; etc; Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual's treatment and access to community resources; Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse; Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments; Communicate effectively in order to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team; Perform clinical interviews in order to obtain information and to formulate appropriate treatment plans.
Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.
) as required; Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver's license.
May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to client @other locations.
Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites; Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
